Garden to Fabric
The Scary Babies * History
The dolls have been floating year round in our gardens for up to twenty years. They have become a rich, humorous and ever changing addition to the photo history of our garden and a mirror reflecting the constant changes we undergo.
As we all work to embrace our own aging, the dolls in the garden gently reflect the effects of wind, rain, snow, sun, bugs and birds and plants moving through their natural cycles.
They exhibit endless patience as they wait to get moved around to new spots, tucked into pots, hang out by or in the bod or bird feeders all of which create changes to skin color and texture, hair do’s dissolving or being carried off by squirrels, clothing rotting and becoming irrelevant, limbs cracking and falling off. There is much to be learned from their silent acceptance of where they land at any given moment, patiently holding their place on the planet.
