Creative Curiosity, Politics & Play
My work is rooted in curiosity, play, and a “no mistakes, no judgment” approach. I combine fabric, thread, buttons, paint, cement, humor, and politics—whatever the idea calls for. Whether it’s dolls, quilts, furniture, or mixed media pieces, I’m always chasing new ways to interpret old ideas.
Art can change things—shift a mood, spark conversations, or simply delight.
Got a creative idea that seems crazy? I say go for it. You never know where it might take you!

the work
Step into vibrant collections of work that celebrate variety and meaning—paintings, quilts, cloth dolls, and sketchbooks—featuring art inspired by the garden, feminism, and politics. Each series invites you to explore bold ideas, textures, and stories brought to life through diverse mediums.
They are invitations to look closer—and maybe even connect with your own story.
Cozy textures & vibrant textiles set the stage…
But it’s the art that speaks the loudest.

art that lives loudly
With unapologetic color and a sharply feminist message, “NEWSFLASH: Being a Nice Girl Can Kill You” is a perfect pairing for collectors who love beauty and boldness in their home.
where it often begins…

I’ve been keeping art journals for many years—most of them half full, half empty. They’re a space where I process frustration—both with myself and the world—through color, words, and images. They’re also the primary home for extra paint.
I usually have four or five journals going at once, randomly moving between them. Focusing on one thing at a time has never been my style.
where it sometimes leads…
beyond the studio into the garden
My creativity isn’t constrained by studio walls. Ideas may germinate in the sketchbook or outdoors in the garden. I love having my hands in the dirt—weeding, digging, or planting seeds and bulbs for spring flowers or a fall harvest.
With Sue as a garden co-creator, we manage to create a pretty glorious environment.
The garden is a place full of inspiration—and a canvas for other creative projects…
